Campbell Wrapper Corp. helped Web Industries Inc. meet urgent customer needs for packaging rapid COVID-19 test kits.
On April 16th, 2020, Campbell received a call from Web Industries, which needed a flow wrapper in a very short timeframe to meet its customer’s requirement to package test kits by the summer. (Web Industries offers precision converting and outsource manufacturing to medical and other companies. It also produces LFI diagnostic devices and offers automated end-to-end high-volume reel-to-reel LFI strip manufacturing, test device assembly, and packaging.)
Campbell was able to deliver the first flow wrapper to Web in eight weeks.
“Normally, five months would be a typical lead time for a machine like this,” stated John Dykema, president and owner of Campbell Wrapper, in a news release. “The Campbell shop worked multiple additional shifts to meet its commitment to Web Industries as well as COVID-related work for other customers – the organization was stressed as never before, but rallied and met the challenge.”
A month after the first delivery, Web needed a second flow wrapper in an even more compressed timeframe, which Campbell was able to deliver. Using creative manufacturing and deploying additional resources to the project, Campbell produced another flow wrapper in just four weeks. By the end of 2020, four lines were in operation at Web, with a fifth delivered in the first quarter of 2021.
Charles Garris, technical director at Web Industries, worked closely with Campbell. “Campbell really stepped up to the plate and was able to deploy their resources at the right time,” he said.
Added Mark Pihl, president & CEO of Web Industries: “Web Industries really values our partnership with Campbell. It has been critical to our success. They met tight delivery schedules and supported the startup and early production to ensure we achieved our commercial commitments on time.”
