Imprinting technology specialist CI Medical Inc. (Norton, MA) has announced that it has updated its ISO certification status to ISO 9001:2008. The company claims to be the only ISO 9001:2008-certified pad-printing company in the United States that exclusively caters to the marking needs of the medical device industry.

Illinois Tool Works Inc. has acquired North Star Imaging Inc. (Rogers, MN), which will join the company's test and measurement group. North Star Imaging provides CT and x-ray equipment to medical device manufacturers for such operations as internal measurement, failure analysis, coating measurement, fatigue comparison, reverse engineering, and density analysis.

Biomedical textile provider Biomedical Structures LLC (Warwick, RI) unveiled a new Web site at BIOMEDevice San Jose last week. Along with redesigning its Web site, the company recently expanded its engineering capabilities with the addition of a cleanroom dedicated to high-density weaving and advanced braiding infrastructure.

Genesis Plastics Welding (Indianapolis, IN) has announced plans to expand its Class 7 cleanroom to increase production capacity of radiofrequency plastics welding of medical devices, supplies, and equipment. The cleanroom will be equipped for such heat-sealing processes as impulse, sonic, and RF welding of polar and nonpolar materials. Applications include surgical instrument covers, inflatable components, oxygen hoods, compression therapy and DVT sleeves, cooling caps, disposable warming blankets, cooling therapy products, fluid bladders, and drainage bags.

The Sterilization Packaging Manufacturers Council (SPMC; Linthicum, MD) of the Flexible Packaging Association has launched a redesigned Web site. The site features updated and expanded content, an FAQ database, news and information, an expanded calendar section listing trade show information, and an expanded members section as well.
