Steris Corp. (Mentor, OH; www.isomedix.com) has acquired the medical sterilization facilities of Cosmed Group (Jamestown, RI; www.cosmed.com). The addition of five strategically located ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization facilities will increase the total number of Steris Isomedix Services network locations to 21 in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

The agreement will also enable the company to offer Cosmed’s proprietary one-day turnaround methodology, EOExpress, as an additional option, along with EtO, gamma, and electron beam sterilization methods.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to build on Cosmed’s advanced service offerings and to provide greater geographic coverage and processing options with five additional EtO facilities,” says Dan Carestio, vice president of sales and marketing, with Steris’s Isomedix Services business segment.
