PolyOne Invests in New Plant to Produce TPEs

PolyOne Corp. (Avon Lake, OH; www.polyone.com) has opened a 100,000-sq-ft engineered-materials manufacturing facility at its headquarters. The new building is designed to help the company provide customized products to its users.

The new facility will manufacture specialty engineering thermoplastic compounds such as Edgetek high-temperature, high-modulus, and flame-retardant engineering thermoplastic compounds, Lubri-Tech lubricated and wear-resistant compounds, Stat-Tech electrically active compounds, Therma-Tech thermal management compounds, and Gravi-Tech high-specific-gravity composites. Thermoplastic elastomers include OnFlex, styrenic block copolymer compounds, Elastamax thermoplastic polyolefins, Elastamax vinyl-based elastomers, and OnFlex thermoplastic vulcanizates.

The plant contains six compounding lines with room for six additional lines. The company has dedicated several mixtures for the manufacturing of FDA-compliant compounds.

Including the new facility, PolyOne has 10 engineered-materials manufacturing sites worldwide.
