Panacol recently announced the development of a new adhesive system certified to use in the medical industry, Vitralit 8050 MV F. The primary curing for Vitralit happens in seconds with UV or LED UV light. The company noted that LED curing units with a wavelength of 405 nm are best suited for curing. Additionally, for adhesive in shadow areas unable to be reached by the UV light, a secondary moisture curing process occurs. The moisture curing process happens as surface and atmospheric moisture react with the adhesive. Moisture in the air does not, however, cause the adhesive to cure while still in the dispensing needle. Unlike moisture curing cyanoacrylates, there are no blooming or frosting effects on the plastics and, according to Panacol, Vitralit is more reliable due to its primary curing being based on UV crosslinking.
