Oracle Packaging Acquires Tolas

A longstanding partnership in the medical packaging industry has produced a marriage of capabilities. Oracle Packaging (Winston-Salem, NC; www.oraclepackaging.com) has acquired Tolas Healthcare Packaging (Feasterville, PA; www.tolas.com) in an effort to sustain industry growth and increase market share.

“Tolas has been a partner of ours for more than 20 years and our businesses are aligned very nicely,” says Chris Payne, director of sales and marketing, Oracle Packaging. “It positions us for growth in a target market of ours, which is the healthcare and pharmaceutical packaging market.”

Because the two companies’ services are complementary, Oracle anticipates that the medical packaging industry will benefit from the union through a more rounded product portfolio, according to Payne. Tolas specializes in package converting services for such materials as medical-grade DuPont Tyvek, reinforced and surgical kraft papers, laminated and coextruded films, and multilayer foil constructions. Oracle offers folding-carton and flexible-packaging products.

Tolas will continue to operate under its own name, but will integrate its business with that of Oracle. As a result, Tolas will contribute an additional 50,000 sq ft dedicated to converting operations in suburban Philadelphia, along with 20,000 sq ft purposed for coating capabilities in Cincinnati.
