Collaboration between Nanolution, the drug-delivery division of Biophan Technologies (West Henrietta, NY: www.biophan.com), and NaturalNano Inc. (West Henrietta, NY; www.naturalnano.com) has produced a drug-delivery technology derived from nanotubes found in halloysite clay.
Tactile Sensors Output in Digital Format
Pressure Profile Systems Inc. (Los Angeles; www. pressureprofile.com) has announced the entry of its tactile sensors into the OEM market. The DigiTacts sensors are the first tactile sensors equipped with direct digital output capabilities, according to the company.
Roller Forming Puts New Spin on Fastening Materials
A metal-forming and -joining process has been added to a company’s orbital forming capabilities. The roller forming process developed by Orbitform (Jackson, MI) uses multiple rollers mounted on a rotating spindle. The rollers gently smooth and fold material into a seamless and solid form. By intersecting the workpiece on a precise contact line, the rollers gradually move material to the desired shape.
