Moll Industries Opens New Facility

Moll Medical, a contract manufacturer of custom high-precision plastic components and medical devices, has opened a new facility in Tucson, AZ. The company moved its Costa Mesa, CA–based operations to Tucson for a variety of reasons, notably space.

“This facility is larger. It's efficient and modern, and we have customized the facility for our own purposes. The operational cost of doing business in Arizona is lower, and it enables us to be highly competitive,” says company representative Dana Gecker.

Moving allowed the company to upgrade from one material silo to seven. The company has also been able to improve its raw-material transport system. Renovating the facility, which is on an 85,000-sq-ft lot, was made possible through almost $3.5 million invested into infrastructure, grounds preparation, building improvements, and equipment. The newly converted production compound includes a 5000-sq-ft cleanroom and a variety of supplemental services. Its manufacturing sector can accommodate more than 60 presses.

Moll has installed 25 presses in its cleanroom space. Designed to fit Class 100,000 standards, the room was built to help the company cater to international healthcare clients. Additional cleanroom space can be customized for new projects. The Tucson site also includes seven loading docks and a 25,000-sq-ft warehouse.

Moll Medical is a division of Moll Industries Inc., a provider of contract manufacturing and custom injection molding. All the company's processes, procedures, production, and assemblies are achieved through validation and verification studies, IQ-OQ-PQ protocols, and other GMP requirements in 21 CFR Part 820.
