Millstone Enhances Services for OEMs

To provide its medical device OEM clients with improved inventory management services, Millstone Medical Outsourcing has upgraded both the hardware and software of its proprietary inventory management system (IMS).

The Fall River, MA–based contract firm’s hardware upgrades included advanced structured query language (SQL) and Windows servers as well as T1 line redundancy. Its software improvements included increased functionality to track surgical loaner kits in the field, integration with third-party logistics tracking features, and enhanced access and reporting of inventory currently in-process or already in finished products. Millstone has also upgraded visualization software to enable faster response times and increased reliability.

The company’s software is used for real-time visibility into new product receipt all the way through to packaging and sterilization. Also provided by the system is customer service access to Millstone’s finished goods warehouse. Users can trace products by lot code or serial number to see which products have been shipped to field locations and distributors.
Millstone’s loaner kit services may benefit the most from the upgraded software. An advanced module provides lot code–level traceability to items within the kits. It also offers full visibility to all of the kits kept in the client loaner pool as well as immediate information on items that are not returned with the loaner kit.

Millstone provides advanced inspection, cleanroom packaging, loaner kit processing, and distribution services to medical and dental device manufacturers.
