Atek Medical Manufacturing (Grand Rapids, MI) has purchased several buildings in the Grand Rapids area from Medtronic Inc. (Minneapolis). The buildings include Medtronic's medical manufacturing and EtO sterilization facilities. Atek has worked closely with Medtronic in the past to develop product lines in cardiac surgery, surgical navigation, and orthopedic implants. In March 2003, Atek bought Medtronic's cardiac surgery manufacturing business, and Medtronic has plans to continue turning its facilities in Grand Rapids over to Atek. Atek Medical Manufacturing is part of The Atek Companies, headquartered in Brainerd, MN.
