An on-line technical center for Bayer Plastics (Pittsburgh) allows users to view and download product, application, processing, and design information on the company’s range of polymer materials. Located at www.bayerplastics.com, the page features single- and multipoint computer modeling data, profiles and photos of successful applications, full-color brochures, and mold design guidance. Product data sheets that detail heat tolerance, chemical resistance, FDA approval status, and other material characteristics are available in both .pdf and HTML formats. A troubleshooting section can also be referenced to provide helpful hints and solutions for common problems.

Bayer Plastics supplies a full line of engineering thermoplastics, including 1100 varieties of polycarbonate resin. Polyamide resin, thermoplastic polyurethane, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, nylon, and styrene acrylonitrile materials are also available. Visitors to the company’s Web site can purchase these materials on-line in a secure Internet exchange environment. Though many would already consider it comprehensive, senior communications representative Bryan Iams promises that the page will undergo several upgrades in the near future. “Over the next few months, we’re going to be simplifying page navigation and adding a range of information specific to the medical market,” he says.
