Nanosurface technology from Nexxion could be applied to a variety of already-assembled implants and surgical tools.

Ionic Fusion Corp. (Longmont, CO) chose the MD&M West trade show in January to introduce Nexxion Corp. (Longmont) as its medical subsidiary. Ionic Fusion markets the Ionic Plasma Deposition (IPD) process, a vacuum-impregnation nanotech technique that can be used for medical applications such as implants, surgical tools, and drug-eluting nanostructures. The proprietary process can also impregnate silver oxide into substrate material at room temperature.

The subsidiary company was formed to develop, manufacture, and distribute service equipment that is part of the IPD technology. “Our IPD process can be applied to already assembled medical devices, with a precision, penetration, and uniformity not possible before,” says Dave Tobler, managing director of Nexxion Corp.
