Instrumentation Maker Mocon Wins Technology Award

Mocon Inc. (Minneapolis; www.mocon.com) has won a Tekne award, which lauds the best and brightest technology innovators in Minnesota. The company develops, manufactures, and markets high-technology instrumentation, which includes permeation analyzers, leak detectors, and headspace analyzers. Testing, consulting, and development services are also offered.

The company was presented with an award in the Technology Company category. The category recognizes companies that exemplify entrepreneurial spirit and promise continued economic growth through technology development in one of six subcategories. Mocon was the winner in the Advanced Manufacturing subcategory for its instrumentation equipment. The equipment is currently used to detect, measure, and analyze vapors and gases in many industrial applications in more than 60 countries.

For the past seven years, the Tekne Awards, presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) and Minnesota Technology Inc. (MTI), in partnership with LifeScience Alley, have recognized companies and individuals who have shown superior leadership, development, commercialization, and management of technology in Minnesota.

Award judges selected one recipient from a pool of three finalists in each of the 17 categories, representing many facets of technological innovation in Minnesota. Award categories recognize leaders and technology businesses that are emerging (with annual revenues under $50 million) and those that are established (with annual revenues of $50 million or more).
