Display Subsystem Chosen for Drug-Delivery Unit

A single, high-performance LCD has been selected to provide the display component of an intravenous administration system. The display from Planar Systems Inc. (Beaverton, OR; www.planar.com), shows all pertinent data at once, in large, bright characters that can be clearly viewed from across the room.

The unit was extensively customized for B. Braun Medical (Bethlehem, PA; www.bbraunusa.com), whose needs for the Horizon drug-delivery system included low power consumption for the battery-powered operating system, an embedded microprocessor–based board design for improved reliability, and custom software and firmware for a seamless interface with the rest of the Horizon system.

The display replaces three previous versions employed in the Horizon.
