From its earliest issues, MX magazine has always enjoyed a cross-sector readership that includes executive leaders in the medical device, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical sectors. Although this diverse readership rarely shares a common point of view about the issues that affect companies in the life sciences sectors, it has always shown a strong interest in creating business ventures that can advance the cause of improved healthcare worldwide.

That theme is one of the driving forces behind the creation of this October's BIOMEDevice Forum, a new conference designed for executives in life sciences organizations. Sponsored by MX and biotech industry association BayBio, BIOMEDevice Forum focuses on convergence and cross-sector collaborations among companies in the biotechnology, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries.

Developed by a steering committee of experts with business-building experience across the life sciences industry—including many members of the MX editorial advisory board—BIOMEDevice Forum will take place October 3–4, in San Jose, CA.

BIOMEDevice Forum is the executive conference component of an event that includes two other important features. BIOMEDevice Partnering provides attendees with an automated system for scheduling partnership meetings with leading field practitioners, and the BIOMEDevice Exposition offers access to leading industry suppliers.

By now, regular readers of MX will also have noted that this issue of the magazine is accompanied by a special supplement, the BIOMEDevice Forum Official Conference Guide. Please take some time to review this bonus publication, which provides insightful background from many of the speakers who will be presenting at BIOMEDevice Forum. We hope that the materials included here will stimulate you to attend the conference—and we look forward to seeing you there!
