A form-fitting cap is designed to lower or raise a person's body temperature using tubes that pump fluid through the device. In addition to restoring temperature, the Thermocontrol Cap could help reduce pain and swelling in patients with head injuries.

The device is made of a closed-cell synthetic polymer foam material or rubber and is fitted with an elastic border. A machine that pumps the warm or cool fluids connects to a hose located near the ear. The hose is responsible for circulating the fluid through a network of enclosed channels on the cap.

A sealing clamp runs from ear to ear over the top of the device, dividing the cap into front and back sections. Because the device can be worn with the in-flow and out-flow hoses on either side of the head, fluid flow can be restricted to a specific area.

The device was invented by Alicia Acosta and Eden Espaldon. More information about the product is available by contacting Advent Product Development located in Pawleys Island, SC.
