Boston Scientific and the ECRI Institute, a market research organization that, among other things, independently evaluates the performance of devices, have reached a settlement in a legal action. Terms were not disclosed.
Boston Scientific sued ECRI over a price-consulting service the research firm offers to hospital clients. ECRI collects price data of various medical devices and gives clients the average and lowest prices for each device. Boston Scientific said that such disclosure violated trade secrets and interfered with its business. The matter would have gone to trial on December 3.
