ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. (Cambridge, ON, Canada; www.atsautomation.com) has acquired a microprecision plastic injection molding company that will be added to its Precision Components Group. According to the company, Micro Precision Plastics (MPP; Bowmanville, ON, Canada) is a fast-growing, profitable, privately held company with annual sales of approximately $10 million. MPP supplies high-quality microprecision injection-molded components and tooling to companies in the automotive, electronic, and consumer products industries.

"ATS already has a strong and profitable plastics division, and the acquisition of MPP nicely complements our existing capabilities," says Bruce Seeley, vice president of precision components at ATS. "With this acquisition, we add several new and attractive customers, MPP's unique micromolding capabilities, and demonstrated expertise in high-tolerance components including small gears."

ATS designs and produces turnkey automated manufacturing and test systems. The company also makes precision components and subassemblies using its own custom-built manufacturing systems, process knowledge, and automation technology.
