ATI Expands Rapid Prototyping Capabilities

ATI's acquisition of an SLA 7000 stereolithography machine will enable the firm to expand its rapid prototyping capabilities.

Supplier of rapid prototyping services Accelerated Technologies Inc. (ATI; Erlanger, KY) has expanded operations and increased its capacity by relocating to a facility that has twice the production area of its previous location. Established in 1990 as a selective laser sintering service bureau, ATI has added state-of-the-art stereolithography (SLA) technology to its machine lineup. The SLA 7000 machine enhances the company's ability to provide reliable and responsive service with rapid turnaround. Along with the facility expansion and 40% increase in capacity, ATI has also increased its staff by 30%. The company plans to use its additional capacity to target new market segments, including the medical device industry. "Although there has been much work done in medical device and biomedical applications, there is significant untapped potential," says marketing manager Todd Grimm. "ATI, and much of the rapid prototyping industry, view medical as a growth industry."
