Combining the expertise of two companies, MedPlast offers a range of molding services, including the overmolding of plastic parts (shown above on a kit box).
Formed as a result of the simultaneous acquisition of the ATP Engineered Rubber and Plastics Group (Wayne, PA) and K&W Medical Specialties (Westfield, PA), MedPlast Inc. (Tempe, AZ; www.medplastgroup.com) combines the expertise and resources of those companies to offer an array of services to the medical device industry. In addition to its headquarters in Arizona, MedPlast will operate four additional plants located in Elkhorn, WI; Westfield, PA; Monticello, IA; and West Berlin, NJ. The company will employ an estimated 800 people.
Heavily focused on catering to the medical industry, MedPlast specializes in engineered thermoplastic, silicone, and rubber molding capabilities as well as assembly services. Broadening its offerings and complementing its molding processes is competence in product design, tooling, engineering, and precision manufacturing. Moreover, MedPlast offers particulate-free molding in cleanrooms located at several of its facilities. It places emphasis on promoting quality supported by compliance with ISO, CGMP, and Six Sigma principles.
Guiding the vision of the new venture is CEO Harold Faig, who formerly held positions as CEO of The Tech Group and president and COO of Milacron Inc. Building on the accomplishments of the acquired companies, MedPlast is working toward the strategic goal of establishing itself as the preferred supplier in the niche markets it serves and attaining its financial goal of reaching $100 million in revenue by the end of 2008.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for everyone involved with MedPlast,” Faig says. “The healthcare industry is very fragmented. What separates MedPlast from the competition is our thermoplastic, silicone, and rubber molding capabilities, combined with our human resources talent and engineering and manufacturing expertise.”
