OrthoSensor's Verasense intelligent knee system with limb alignment was cleared by FDA in June.

Tapping into the mounting demand for actionable data that help improve patient outcomes, OrthoSensor is at the forefront of intelligent orthopedic implant and monitoring technology.

After introducing its intraoperative surgical system in 2012, the young company quickly established itself as an emerging force in the sector in 2013 as it continued to build on its strong portfolio of smart orthopedic solutions. For example, the novel Verasense intelligent knee system with limb alignment, cleared by FDA in June, replaces the standard plastic tibial spacer used in knee-replacement surgery. The single-use device provides surgeons with real-time, quantifiable feedback on both soft-tissue balance and limb alignment to ensure proper implant positioning.

Alignment is apparently the name of the game for OrthoSensor, which managed to secure partnerships this year with two of the orthopedics industry’s most prominent power players. The company entered into a copromotion deal with Biomet and extended its comarketing agreement with Stryker’s orthopaedics division, ultimately expanding its reach and obtaining high-profile visibility.
