10 Women Medtech Leaders

Women make 80% of healthcare decisions in the United States, but the percentage of females leading healthcare companies is still tiny. A 2012 report estimated that only 4% of healthcare CEOs are women.

The situation isn't much better when it comes to the Fortune 1000. Only about 5% of those companies had female CEOs. Still, the companies with a woman as CEO scored an average return significantly higher than the average—103.4% compared to an average return of 69.5% for the S&P 500 stock index in the same periods.

Here, we highlight 10 women who are making a difference in the medical device industry. The list is wide-ranging, including the head of the FDA to CEOs of device companies.
