CDRH Director Signals His Exit

Jeff Shuren has announced his intention to leave FDA this year after 28 years with the agency and 15 years at the helm of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health. Michelle Tarver, deputy director for transformation at CDRH, has been tapped as acting director of the group effective July 28.

Big Summer Collabs for Big Market Opportunities

This appears to be the summer of medtech collaborations. This week, BD and Quest Diagnostics announced a collaboration to develop companion diagnostics. Also, Volta Medical and GE HealthCare are partnering on electrophysiology technology to address challenges when capturing and analyzing cardiac signals during atrial fibrillation procedures.
