Running in Place—Not!
Generally speaking, the whole idea of a treadmill is to remain in one place—but don't tell that to the new breed of product developers at Quinton Cardiology Systems (Bothell, WA).
Over the past five years, Quinton's management team has been on a mission to revitalize the 50-year-old company and recapture market leadership. In 2002, the company estimated its strengths in key franchises as follows.
Stress Testing. A world leader with a 28% market share and the largest installed base of medical treadmills.
Holter Monitoring. The market leader in high-end, 12-lead monitoring.
Cardiac Catheterization Monitoring. A global leader, with an installed base of more than 500 laboratories.
Cardiac Rehabilitation. The leader in the U.S. market, with a 70% share of the installed base.
Introduced earlier this year, Quinton's Q-Cath hemodynamic monitoring system (version 5.0) provides real-time cath lab results for both adult and pediatric patients. |
