Medical Device Companies Honored for Advances

Frost & Sullivan (Palo Alto, CA) recognized several companies for their growth and innovative technologies at its annual summit in March. It presented awards to manufacturers that are expected to affect the device industry by developing advanced products, promoting strong growth in their marketplace, or finding emerging trends.
Companies that received awards include A&D Medical, GE Healthcare, Agfa Healthcare, Aesculap Academy GmbH, Cisco Healthcare, and Pilgrim Software. Chris Begley, CEO of Hospira Inc., was named the medical device CEO of the year. Since 2004, Begley has transformed the spin-off of Abbott Laboratories into an industry leader in specialty injectable drugs and medication delivery systems.
Advanced Imaging Technologies was recognized for its ultrasound imaging; Axela Biosensors Inc. took home the North American protein assays product innovation of the year award; and Advanced Research Technologies Inc. received an award for its optical imaging devices in North America. Raytel Cardiac Services, a leader in remote cardiac monitoring, was given the U.S. Cardiovascular Enabling Technology award, and Tornier Inc. was honored for its product innovation in the U.S. orthopedics market.
Frost & Sullivan presented the honors at a banquet during its 12th annual Medical Devices Executive MindXchange in San Francisco.
