Vertellus will display its range of Biothane adhesives and sealants and PC Technology surface technology at MD&M East Booth 1035.
“With its history rooted in specialty chemicals, and a deep understanding of global regulatory and compliance issues, Vertellus is uniquely positioned to develop specialty solutions for medical device manufacturers,” explained Neelam Kumar, strategic segment manager – medical at Vertellus, in a news release. “At MD&M Expo, we welcome opportunities to educate visitors about our off-the-shelf products and partner with industry participants to build unique, custom solutions that meet their precise needs.”
The Biothane portfolio includes Polycin polyols and Vorite prepolymers that when combined become high-performance adhesive and sealant systems. Able to meet critical performance specifications, such as hardness, rheology, and gel time, the systems are intended to streamline production for a variety of medical devices such as catheters, dialyzers, oxygenators, and specialty hollow fiber membrane bioreactors.
PC Technology, a hemocompatible surface technology based upon the human body’s own chemistry, can be used to coat device surfaces to prevent bacteria buildup, resist biofilm and inflammation, and prevent thrombosis. Potential applications include medical devices in the areas of cardiology, pulmonology, otology, urology, among others.
