MD+DI went through some significant editorial changes in 2022 that we thought you should know about.

In April, Daphne Allen made a move over to Design News, MD+DI's sister publication, and Omar Ford was promoted to the role of editor-in-chief here at MD+DI. Meanwhile, Amanda Pedersen was promoted to the role of senior editor. Ford and Pedersen have each covered the medical device and diagnostics industry for 16 years.

In July, Katie Hobbins joined the team as managing editor. She boasts multiple previous editorial roles in print and multimedia medical journalism, including dermatology, medical aesthetics, and pediatric medicine. She graduated from Cleveland State University in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and promotional communications. She enjoys yoga, hand embroidery, and anything DIY. Pedersen's POV

Pedersen's POV is a weekly opinion column in which our senior editor views industry developments through a lens wiped clean of the rose tint that often colors medtech's view of itself. Pedersen brings a healthy cynicism to strategic business moves like corporate innovation labs, calls out manufacturers that still resort to using sex appeal at trade shows, and removes the punch bowl from the party prematurely celebrating success in diversity and inclusion. Pedersen's POV fearlessly shines a light on the parts of the medtech industry that aren't lit by the glow of its halo. That said, she also gives credit where credit is due, calling attention to smart marketing moves, and recognizing medtech executives who make difficult career decisions.
