Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corporation, a subsidiary of Compass Diversified, recently announced its range of titanium foils and alloys. The high-performance magnet manufacturer reported that it offers thin cold-rolled titanium in a variety of commercially pure (CP) grades and alloys, as well as a range of thicknesses and widths useful in many applications. One such application is medical devices, which require a strong, lightweight, corrosion-resistant, biocompatible material that is highly workable, ductible, and weldable.

The company says it achieves a thinness while maintaining controlled, consistent mechanical and physical quality. For example, Arnold’s Ultra Thin Gauge foil can go down to 2 µm (0.00008“) thickness, in addition to Thin Gauge options (0.020“ – 0.0005“). Foils are available at widths up to 17.5”, depending on thickness. Additionally, widths as narrow as 0.031” can be done through slitting.

The company offers CP grade options including Grade 1 which has the highest purity commercially available with corrosion resistance to chlorides. Grade 2 is the most commonly specified grade of CP titanium and has good ductility and corrosion resistance, especially to seawater. Lastly, Grade 4 is the strongest CP grade and is certified per AMS standards. Available titanium alloys include Grade 9, 15-3-3-3, Grade 23, and Beta21s.
