System Can Accurately Measure Small Tubes with Ultrathin Walls

An ultrasonic measurement system for medical tubing can measure very small tubes with ultrathin walls to a high degree of accuracy and consistency. Employing multiple transducers to continuously monitor wall thickness, concentricity, diameter, and ovality, the UltraScan system includes patented technology that automatically sets up the waveforms of all transducers, tracks tolerances to detect wall variations, and provides average wall and concentricity measurements with assured repeatability. Manufacturers can make appropriate process adjustments immediately. The system is suited for a range of microtube production applications, including the measurement of catheters, drug-delivery tubing, surgical tubing, and other medical devices.
