11 Devices For Hacking Your Health

For some people being well isn't enough. They want to be better. That's where these biohacking devices come in.

For some people being well isn't enough. They want to be better. That's where biohacking comes in. You'd be forgiven if you haven't heard the term. The nascent movement is gaining momentum among clinicians, engineers, athletes, and health enthusiasts as new technologies, products, and even pharmaceuticals are offering to streamline the path to peak human performance. On the most extreme end, hackers, who call themselves grinders, are going as far as implanting their own homemade devices into themselves. But a larger subset is focused more on using technology as a means to human optimization. There are nutraceuticals and supplements called nootropics—essentially vitamins for improving brain function. There's even specialized, butter-infused coffee (Bulletproof coffee) that's growing in popularity among celebrities and the Silicon Valley set.

And hardware companies are jumping on the bandwagon as well. At the second-annual Bulletproof Biohacking Conference held in Pasadena, CA a number of exhibitors were on-hand to demonstrate devices both benign and controversial that let consumers hack their own health and optimize their mental and physical performance.
