The rebranding of Siemens' separately managed healthcare business is meant to reflect pioneering spirit and engineering expertise.
Siemens Healthcare is now branded as Siemens Healthineers, the Germany-based medtech giant said Wednesday.
"We have an exceptional track record of engineering and scientific excellence and are consistently at the forefront of developing innovative clinical solutions that enable providers to offer efficient, high quality patient care. Going forward as Siemens Healthineers, we will leverage this expertise to provide a wider range of customized clinical solutions that support our customers business holistically. We are confident in our capability to become their inspiring partner on our customers' journey to success" Bernd Montag, CEO of Siemens' healthcare business, said in a news release.
"Our new brand is a bold signal for our ambition and expresses our identity as a people company - 45,000 employees worldwide who are passionate about empowering healthcare providers to optimally serve their patients," Montag said.

The healthcare business, which has been operating as a separately managed company within a company at Siemens, has been enjoying revenue growth this year, fueled by strong sales in its diagnostic imaging business. For the second quarter ended March 31, the healthcare business earned 555 million euros off 3.25 billion euros in sales, up from 536 million euros in profit off 3.23 billion euros in sales during the same quarter a year ago.
The strategy going forward is to further strengthen the medical imaging and laboratory diagnostics business, while also providing new offerings including managed services, consulting, and digital services.
Last month, Siemens announced a partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific to integrate Thermo Fisher's real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system into Siemens' Versant kPCR molecular solution, a move meant to spur more molecular laboratory innovations.
