Siemens' New Offering Could Give Heart Teams a Better View

FDA cleared a new application designed to integrate ultrasound and angiography images to guide heart teams during structural heart procedures.

As treatment options for structural heart disease continue to rapidly evolve, procedures increasingly involve multimodality imaging and multidisciplinary clinical teams. To reliably diagnose structural heart disease and perform these complex interventions, clinicians need detailed, real-time imaging information – such as real-time soft tissue and blood flow information from echocardiography as well as 2-D imaging information from fluoroscopy – to be visible in one view for common orientation.

Siemens Healtineers has responded to that need with a new cardiovascular application designed to integrate ultrasound and angiography images to guide heart teams during structural heart procedures. FDA cleared the new application, dubbed TrueFusion, and it is available on the company’s Acuson SC2000 5.0 cardiovascular ultrasound system.

TrueFusion is designed to send anatomical and functional markers as well as valve models from the Acuson SC2000’s True Volume transesophageal echocardiography transducer to an Artis with Pure angiography system, overlaying ultrasound information with live fluoroscopy images to navigate structural heart procedures.
