Georgia Bone Regrowth Company Vivex Biomedical Seeks $5.5M

Vivex's website is still being built and has no information, but local publications describe the company as trying to develop a spinal implant technology to generate bone growth. It aims to treat patients who are suffering from spinal cord injuries, orthopedic injuries and traumatic wounds. It has licensed highly adaptive adult stem cell line, known as MIAMI (Marrow Isolated Adult Multi-lineage Inducible) that are more robust than traditional stem cells and are able to work better on patients whose wounds heal slowly.

Vivex Biomedical appears to be a spinoff of Amendia Inc., a Georgia specialty medical device manufacturer, which invested $50 million earlier this year to help in commercializing the spinal implant technology.
