Thread-Whirling Toolholders From Carmex

A manufacturer of cutting tools produces whirling inserts and holders that employ simultaneous rotational and longitudinal movements. These thread-whirling toolholders are designed to deliver high productivity in the manufacture of such high-precision parts as dental implants and bone screws with long threads, as well as other parts made on Swiss-type machine tools. The thread-whirling system incorporates a whirling-unit head equipped with eight cutting edges in contact with a rotating workpiece advanced longitudinally, and generates good surface quality and accurate part geometry while supporting long tool life. It allows fast setup and also compensation of large helix angles via adjustment of the unit. All system toolholders are standard and can be used for various applications. Inserts are specially generated for each application
