Mimi is a German digital health company that wants to transform your smartphone to a hearing aid. The company has created a mobile app for the iPhone, which uses its hearing technology based on proprietary algorithms to help those with hearing loss. The app first takes a test for both ears before understanding how to personlize sounds for the person using the app.

In a presentation, to TechCrunch's Disrupt conference in New York in May, co-founder Philipp Skribanowitz explains that the Mimi smart hearing technology is aimed to be a low-cost, effective alternative to traditionally expensive hearing aids. The app can not only enhance music, calls and audiobooks that are integral to the iPhone but also tap the phone's microphone to enhance the sounds around it. 

The company is reportedly building a bluetooth enabled device that would work in conjunction with the app and can be worn. Here is the video of the Disrupt presentation:
