Where the 2016 Presidential Candidates Stand on Healthcare - Ted Cruz

Article-Where the 2016 Presidential Candidates Stand on Healthcare - Ted Cruz

Party: Republican

Wants to Repeal Obamacare: Yes

Replace With: Cruz is one of the most vociferous critics of Obamacare. Yet he opted for health insurance coverage from the exchanges when his wife quit Goldman Sachs after he decided to run for president.

It's not clear what the senator from Texas has in store from a healthcare policy perspective - his website has no entry on healthcare under "issues," unlike other candidates. The website does, however, mention that after repealing Obamacare, Cruz will make healthcare  "more personal, portable, and affordable.

In a Republican presidential debate hosted by Fox News, Cruz said he wants people to be able to buy insurance across state lines that would drive down the cost of healthcare, expand the use of health savings accounts (HSAs) and delink health insurance from employment. He did not address how the uninsured would be covered under his plan if Obamacare is repealed.
