The Medtech Design Summit 2021, a day-long webinar series dedicated to igniting design inspiration for medical innovations, is scheduled for May 13 from 12:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. EDT. Organized by Informa Markets – Engineering, the all-new webinar series will provide tips and best practices to help take device design to the next level—from teasing out user needs to adding features that make complex healthcare tasks faster, easier, and less costly.

Designed to inspire the next breakthrough invention, the Medtech Design Summit features panel discussions with finalists from the 2021 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) program, including Medtronic, S3 Connected Health, XACT Robotics, among others, where they will address a myriad of topics ranging from identifying unmet needs in healthcare, simplifying and streamlining complex devices, to maximizing the usability of best-in-class medical devices. Trusted suppliers, designers, and service providers will also take the virtual stage in Tech Talks to present their latest technology and products to help attendees bring their innovations to life.

Additionally, the program will honor the 2021 MDEA finalists and announce the winners in a virtual ceremony. The prestigious award program—recognizing cutting-edge achievements in medical product design since 1998— spans 11 categories and celebrates the Best in Show and MD+DI Readers' Choice. Jurors from the 2021 MDEA program will also come together in another panel discussion to share insights about what technologies, features, and functional design elements caught their eye and separated the winners from the rest of the pack in this year's competition.

"As part of the world’s most technical and rapidly evolving industries, medical device and diagnostics manufacturers are facing mounting pressures to develop devices that improve the quality of healthcare delivery and accessibility," said Daphne Allen, Editor-in-Chief, MD+DI. "As such, the design and engineering of medical devices today is an exceptionally technical and creative process, and the MDEA program and the Medtech Design Summit are designed specifically to celebrate the ingenuity behind these life-saving devices."
