While employees can use CastLight's price transparency tool to make better choices, employers have a better handle on the amount they spend on providing healthcare as a benefit.
The San Francisco-based company appears to have successfully guessed that people do not want to pay more for good care and that their employers want to move them to consumer-directed high deductible health plans to reduce costs.
The company has 174 customers, including the likes Wal-Mart, Microsoft, Google, McKesson and Viacom as well as government entities like the State of Mississippi.
