7 Executives Poised to Change Medtech Forever (Cashman)

Steve Cashman is CEO of Ohio-based HealthSpot. He also cofounded the company that is attempting to overhaul how consumers access retail healthcare. And perhaps relieve the burden on the system which is based on delivering care through the office visit and the emergency room.

HealthSpot has created kiosks that are powered by smart medical devices and videoconferencing capability by which patients suffering minor maladies can get connected to a board certified physician.

Instead of being physically seen by a registered nurse at a CVS or Walgreen retail clinic, patients are treated remotely by a physician. The physician can make a diagnosis as patients in the kiosk use interactive medical devices such as a stethoscope, an otoscope, a pulse oximeter and a magnascope. Treatments are provided based on this remote diagnosis.

Recently, Rite Aid became a partner and HealthSpot kiosks can be found within certain Rite Aid locations in Ohio. The telemedicine startup has also partnered with healthcare heavy weights such as Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic.
