“There was a need for precise image-guided navigation and guidance system to deliver ablation,” explained Nesa Medtech founder Sreekar Kothamachu during BIOMEDigital, speaking of the potential use of ablation for uterine fibroids. “This is exactly what we do at Nesa.”
Nesa’s technology would support natural-orifice procedures under local anesthesia, and there is a potential for faster procedures and faster recovery time as well as preservation of the uterus.
The company is already collaborating with a few ablation technology providers and could enable licensing opportunities for larger medical device manufacturers. It is gearing up for a clinical safety study and a second-generation product, Kothamachu explained.
