Elizabeth Holmes left Stanford University at age 19 to found Theranos and the goal was to disrupt the diagnostics industry by providing consumers access to cheap, fast and high-quality lab-testing. Theranos' technology uses 1/1000 the volume of a typical blood draw without the need for big needles.

Walgreens is offering the testing services at some of its locations though they plan to roll it out nationwide. Consumers can walk in with a lab-order from their doctor and get their test done. Investors have taken notice and the company has reportedly raised more than $400 million.
