Infinity Breaks Ground on New Facility

Infinity's new cleanroom facility will mainly serve medical customers.

Infinity Molding & Assembly is building a new cleanroom facility in Mt. Vernon, IN, on its existing manufacturing campus. The new business unit will operate under the name Infinity CleanRoom Solutions and will focus mainly on medical companies with molded and assembled products that require a certified Class 100,000 or Class 10,000 cleanroom.

Although Infinity has mainly worked in the automotive and industrial industries, the construction represents a conscious decision to make medical a priority. President and CEO Robert Carpenter says, “We have realized modest success in working with several new medical customers. However, in order to progress to the next level, we recognize the necessity of creating an entirely new culture that focuses on cleanroom molding and assembly.”

The 11,250-sq-ft facility is scheduled to be operational by June 2009. At that point, the company's current medical business will transition from its existing molding plant to the new structure, which will initially house 100–200-tn injection molding machines. Infinity says that it is currently discussing with other medical companies the possibility of moving new programs into the completed facility.
