Contract Manufacturer Incorporates Medical Device Subsidiary

Anticipating steady growth in the medical device market, Coghlin Companies Inc. (Worcester, MA), one of the largest contract manufacturing service providers in New England, has incorporated its subsidiary company, Cogmedix (West Boylson, MA), which focuses exclusively on medical device manufacturing.

Because Coghlin Companies provides engineering and manufacturing services to a range of industries, it is positioning Cogmedix to better serve medical device manufacturers in the New England region. Cogmedix focuses of the production of Class I and II medical and clinical devices. Although it is experienced in collaborating with companies that are bringing new devices to market, the company also serves as a resource to larger medical OEMs that want to transfer internal manufacturing processes to a contract service provider.

Featuring Class 10,000 cleanrooms, the facility operated by Cogmedix can accommodate production runs of 50 to 5000 units per year, in addition to offering assembly, test, and inspection services. The company also provides device master record and device history record documentation, process validation, and supply-chain management.

In addition to Massachusetts, Cogmedix services Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut . Being a fourth-generation family-owned firm, parent corporation Coghlin Companies has a unique understanding of the New England region. "New England has always been a place where new technologies and innovation development are nurtured and flourish, whether within academia or through private investment, venture capital, or state and federal funding," says Chris Coghlin, president and CEO.
