Avo expanded its cleanroom to meet
customer requests.

Avo Photonics has recently added a Class 100 cleanroom to its facility in Horsham, PA. The company specializes in radio-frequency (RF) products and optical packaging. The 500-sq-ft Class 100 cleanroom enables the firm to offer full-service contract manufacturing support.

“There is clearly an unmet demand for design and assembly services for RF and optical products in the medical market,” says Mike Vinson, vice president of business development at Avo Photonics. “Adding low-particle-count clean space is critical for manufacturing advanced medical components, and it is a strong complement to our existing capabilities.”

Avo already offers 6000 sq ft of Class 10,000 space. In addition to the new cleanroom space, Avo continues to add new design, test, and manufacturing tools that cater to medical product development.

Additional capabilities include a broad range of engineering talent, a complete suite of modeling tools, and advanced equipment. The modeling tools include electrical, RF, optical, thermal, and mechanical analysis to ensure that products are ready for immediate prototyping and low-volume production. High-volume production can be achieved without having to retool or requalify the design. Manufacturing capabilities include large, complex, free-space optical assembly as well as small, high-accuracy component placement. The company offers multiaxis laser welding; eutectic and epoxy die bonding; flip-chip assembly; wire bonding; seam sealing; and optical fiber attachment. Avo also provides failure analysis and supply-chain management.
