Boston Scientific is ramping up its renal denervation program in Europe with the Vessix second-generation balloon-expandable multipoint renal denervation platform. Mahoney sought to distance the technology from Medtronic’s version, which failed to meet its end points in a recent clinical trial, saying it is “highly differentiated from the competitor’s product.” He also pointed out that Medtronic’s failure could be an opportunity for Boston Scientific. “Regarding our U.S. trial, we will carefully examine the forthcoming available data and work collaboratively with the scientific community to determine the next steps for our Vessix clinical program,” he said.
