Apple Takes ECG Mainstream

Ok, we know we’re going to get some flak for this being on the list. But please hear us out. Apple winning FDA clearance for an ECG app to monitor heart rhythms was and will forever be an important moment for the cardiovascular space. Not because the technology is groundbreaking – but because Apple was able to shine a spotlight on the space and take it mainstream. Apple’s presence in the space generated a buzz that benefitted already-established ECG companies such as Irhythm Technologies. Even Fitbit – (now acquired by Google) got in on the act, securing a nod from FDA for an ECG app.

The space is wide open boasting a number of significant deals – and with the rise of telehealth because of COVID-19, the ECG market is sure to continue growing.
