Covidien, based in Ireland, is a large hospital supplier of myriad medical devices such as surgicals staples, ventilation, pulse oximetry, remote monitoring and peripheral vascular prodcuts.

In the last five years, the company has reduced headcount by 3,200 employees, that lowered its overall employment to 38,500 as of 2013. Most of that came from the spinning out of the pharmaceuticals unit, Mallinckrodt.

CORRECTION: The publishers of the report on which the slideshow is based - EvaluateMedTech - previously described these companies as firers. They have amended the report to reflect that headcount have been reduced in these companies. That could be because of workers being fired, but also sale of business units or other reasons that can cause headcount to shrink.
