MicroLumen, a manufacturer of medical tubing, will be moving into a larger facility in early 2011 to accommodate growing demand for its products. The company is building a 60,000-sq-ft facility in Oldsmar, FL, reports Tampabay.com.
The company currently leases space in Tampa, FL, and employs 54 people. It intends to increase the size of its workforce to 60 in 2011 and to about 100 in 2014.
Manufacturing medical-grade polyimide tubing in diameters ranging in size from 0.10 to 2.11 mm, Microlumen fabricates products that are used in cardiovascular, urological, and drug- and stent-deployment applications. Custom coextrusions are also available.
Polyimide tubing is characterized by good torque, pushability, flexibility, and tractability. Product features include braid reinforcement, PTFE liners, and thermoplastic outer jackets. In addition, the company offers laser machining, subassembly, and trimming services.
