Medtech Developer of NonInvasive Cardiovascular Monitoring Raises $4M

Intelomed has developed the CVInsight system that uses smart technology to gather blood volume measurements that to provide real-time blood volume measurements to clinicians during treatment. Whether a patient has adequate circulating blood volumes during treatment at any given moment is important for clinicians to know, and currently the only way to garner that information continuously is through invasive measures, according to Intelomed's website. The money raised will be used to launch sales efforts as well as initiatives that provider greater clinical validation about newer features of the product.

Intelomed hopes to change that. In a news release, the company's CEO said that the product will be introduced in the next few months to the hemodialysis and the long term nursing care markets. Decreasing blood volume is a common effect of hemodialysis treatment and the cardiovascular system is incapable of responding to this decrease in blood volume. These two factors can contribute to a common complication of dialysis patients: dialysis hypotension.
