This is the company’s third fund. Clarus manages assets worth $1.2 billion across two other funds, according to the company’s website.

The firm was founded in 2005.

Clarus mainly invests in biotech and pharma companies but in medical devices, the company has five portfolio companies - Flowonix, which makes implantable devices to help improve drug delivery; Globus Medical, which makes spinal implants; NeoMed, which makes neonatal products; Restoration Robotics, which helps hair restoration using robotics; Sientra, which makes products for cosmetic surgery such as breast implants and pectoral implants; and Tyrx, which makes implantable drug-device combination products.

In late January, Medtronic announced that it has acquired Tyrx for an initial sum of $160 million with additional milestone payments.
